Above Ground & Semi-Inground Pools

Designed for properties that call for something different

Mayfair Pools & Spas custom above-ground and semi-inground pools are individually designed and constructed on site, giving us the flexibility to create a pool that works with your property rather than around the limitations of a preformed shell.

This approach is particularly well suited to sloping sections, elevated homes and unique New Zealand properties where changes in level can become part of the design.

An above-ground or semi-inground pool can open up possibilities that a conventional in-ground pool can’t. It might follow the contours of a sloping section, meet an elevated deck or outdoor living area, or use a change in level to create a striking architectural feature.

With Mayfair Pools & Spas, every pool is designed around the property, the architecture and the way you want to live.

What is an above-ground or semi-inground pool?

An above ground pool has part or all of the pool structure sitting above the natural ground level, while a semi-inground pool is partially set into the ground.

Both can be particularly effective on properties with slopes, changes in level, elevated outdoor areas or sites where a fully inground pool isn’t the best design response.

And because the exposed sides of the pool become part of what you see, the details matter. The pool needs to work not only structurally, but visually with the home, decking and surrounding landscape.

That’s where custom design comes into its own.

Made for sloping and challenging sites

A sloping section doesn’t have to limit what you can create.

In fact, changes in elevation can lead to some of the most interesting pool designs, allowing the pool to connect with an upper-level deck, step naturally into the landscape, or to make the most of an outlook.

Depending on the site and its engineering requirements, a custom Mayfair Pools & Spas pool can be designed to work with:

  • sloping and steep sections

  • elevated homes and decks

  • retaining walls and changes in level

  • coastal and hillside properties

  • restricted or challenging access

  • unconventional spaces where a standard pool shell may not suit

Every property is different, so the Mayfair Pools & Spas team works through the design, site conditions, and engineering requirements alongside the homeowner and collaborating with the architect, the builder, the landscape designer, and the engineer when required to develop the right solution.

Designed as part of the architecture

When a pool sits partially or fully above ground, it becomes a more visible part of the home.

That creates an opportunity to do something special.

The exposed structure can be integrated with decking, landscaping and architectural finishes so the pool feels connected to its surroundings. Position and elevation can also be used to capture a view, strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, or create different levels within the landscape.

Rather than treating the pool as something to add once the rest of the property has been designed, we believe the best results come from considering it as part of the whole

Designed around your property, from concept to completion

You don’t need a flat section or a standard backyard to create an exceptional pool.

With a Mayfair Pools & Spas pool constructed on site, the starting point is your property—its architecture, landscape, levels, outlook and the way you want to use the space. From there, we design the pool to belong.

Complex sites often involve more than the pool itself. Mayfair Pools & Spas can manage the process from initial design and site assessment through engineering, consent and construction, working alongside your architect, builder, landscaper and other project partners where required.

This means the practical details are considered alongside the design from the outset, with one experienced pool team helping bring everything together.
