Restoring a Mayfair Classic
This restored Mayfair Pool blends a fresh fibreglass finish with original details, creating a welcoming space designed for family connection and laid-back entertaining. A seamless upgrade that honours the pool’s past while preparing it for the future.
When our client purchased this property, it came with an existing Mayfair Pool that had sadly sustained damage in a previous earthquake. While fibreglass is known as the most earthquake-resilient pool type, significant seismic events can still compromise even the most flexible materials—especially when underlying ground conditions shift. In this case, cracks meant the pool could no longer hold water and needed refurbishment.
Determined to restore both the pool and its surroundings to their former glory, the client had already replaced the paving, which needed careful protection during our work. To respray the fibreglass, we removed the waterline tiles and bullnose coping, which was preserved and later reinstated. The spa area was also fully refurbished to match.
As a hands-on owner with a well-established drilling business, the client actively pitched in throughout the process. His vision was clear: to create a relaxed yet lively pool area for his teenage children, extended family, and friends to enjoy.
Working through challenging winter conditions—and even navigating a pool wall cave-in along the way—this project became a testament to persistence, partnership, and thoughtful restoration. The end result is a revitalised pool and spa area that’s once again the heart of the backyard.
