Soaking in the Sounds

Set above the Marlborough Sounds, this custom fibreglass pool was designed to blend effortlessly with the existing home and its surroundings. With clean lines, frameless glass fencing, and an automatic cover for year-round ease, the result is a calm and elegant outdoor space—made for relaxing, entertaining, and soaking in the view.

The clients came to us with a clear vision for their Havelock property: they wanted a pool that would sit proudly in front of their existing home and make the most of the expansive views over the Marlborough Sounds. Their goal was to create a space that felt peaceful and refined, somewhere they could unwind, entertain, and enjoy the outdoors across all seasons.

They were after a design that complemented the home's style without overwhelming the setting—something modern but not flashy, low-maintenance yet high-quality. One of the most important aspects of the brief was to keep the view as open as possible, so frameless glass fencing was a must. It needed to provide safety and wind protection without blocking the sightlines from the house through to the pool and out to the water.

The clients also requested a pool with clean lines and functional features. They didn’t want anything over-complicated—just one generous step area that could double as a space to sit, relax, or cool off on a hot day. It was also important to them that the pool be easy to maintain, safe for family use, and warm enough to get plenty of use throughout the year. An automatic cover was incorporated to tick all those boxes—offering heat retention, safety, and a tidy finish.

Given the region’s seismic activity, fibreglass was recommended as the best option—offering structural flexibility, long-term durability, and a sleek finish that aligned perfectly with the clients’ brief.

The result is a beautifully integrated pool that feels like it’s always been part of the property. It reflects the clients' original vision: a calm, functional, and elegant outdoor space that enhances the home’s liveability without taking away from the natural beauty of its surroundings.

Kim Manunui

Hi, I’m Kim and I work with a great team to help individuals, as well as small and not so small businesses get their message, product and services to the world using digital media and creating wonderful websites that don’t cost the earth.

I was born in Canada, and grew up around Vancouver and the mountains of British Columbia. My love of pristine environments led me to New Zealand and eventually to the mountains, lakes and rivers of the central North Island which is home. My family’s heritage is here, and it’s from here that Korio traverses the planet.

The digital world is never static and neither are we.

And I say ‘we’ because I work with an awesome group of talented people who I gather together as required to complete a project.  Whatever your business, not-for-profit or individual needs are we gather the best team to get the job done.

Collaboratively we are creative, share sustainable values and work hard for great outcomes because that’s the buzz of satisfaction that drives us.

If you have an audience and market to reach, we can make that happen. Creative design, words that work and smart behind the scenes stuff that cuts through the online noise. We’ll design your website and then build it. We’ll manage the content as well as all your hosting needs. We can handle your online advertising so you get noticed,
and we’ll manage your social media presence so you get the clicks, likes and engagement to grow your business. All within the budget you set, because none of this needs to cost the earth.  And the job doesn’t stop when your website goes live. We are your virtual business partner.
