From Structural Failure to Family Favourite
This pool was fully re-engineered with new reinforcing and concrete work, then finished with modern systems and clean outdoor detailing.
Another refurbishment project that no one else wanted to deal with!
The new property owners had discovered their pool was in a rather sad state, but with a young family, they were keen to bring it back to its former glory as the focal point of the entertaining area.
This 20-year-old concrete tilt slab constructed pool had been leaking via the concrete panel joints and the main drain. The reinforcing bars had rusted through on the floor of the pool and the walls – cracks had appeared everywhere you looked in the floor and walls of the pool structure and the surrounding paving.
Once again, the Mayfair Nelson Team were up for the challenge – the pool had significant structural defects but the location of the pool was stunning with expansive views and deserved a major overhaul.
The free-standing pool walls had to be re-engineered to reinforce the walls and remove and replace the existing rusting reinforcing bars. With Craig’s background in engineering and as certified welder, the team were able to cut out the sections of concrete panels – clean the existing bars and replace the old damaged sections, with Craig the new reinforcing welded in on site. The panels were then re-concreted and sections of floor removed and re-concreted.
Finally the pool was fitted out with insulating panels and a fibreglass liner sprayed on site.
The family now have a stunning entertaining area with a pool that will stand the test of time, making lasting memories for their family and friends.
